Pet Dental Care

At both County Line Veterinary Hospital and Heritage Veterinary Hospital, we offer a full range of veterinary dental services such as teeth cleaning & polishing to put that healthy smile back on your pet's face.  We can perform advanced dental care using dental X-rays to evaluate the need for extractions.  We also provide preventative dental treatments and carry a wide range of dental care products.

The tooth shown below looks normal from the outside, but the x-ray shows massive decay underneath.  This is why we recommend regular dental examinations and dental cleaning to keep your pet's teeth and gums healthy.

Oxygen Therapy

Oxygen therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that has been used by humans for many years, and has found quite a following among professional athletes.  Veterinary oxygen therapy involves introducing the pet to high levels of oxygen under pressure in a special chamber.  At normal atmospheric pressure, there is a limit to the amount of oxygen carried by red blood cells and only a tiny amount of oxygen is dissolved in the plasma.  Increasing the amount of air breathed cannot significantly improve oxygen delivery to the body by way of hemoglobin, even if you breathe pure oxygen.  However, with increased pressure, the oxygen level in blood plasma increases, with higher delivery to all body tissues. Under these conditions, oxygen is physically dissolved in the plasma, even in the veins.  The dissolved oxygen is more readily utilized by the body than the oxygen carried by red blood cells.  The oxygen is forced into the blood and body fluids, making its way to any damaged areas of the body than can’t be reached by normal blood circulation or areas where vessels have been hindered by injury or infection.

LEPTOSPIROSIS PET HEALTH ALERT!

Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that affects mammals, including dogs, cats and humans.

Early signs of Leptospirosis are vague, and include lethargy, loss of appetite, depression and vomiting.  This can progress to any or all of the following: kidney failure, liver disease, joint disease, vasculitis (severe inflammation of blood vessels), and death.

Does Your Pet Have Issues?

Often times, behavior modification techniques can help your pet to live a happier and healthier life.

We offer basic behavioral counseling for dogs and cats and can refer severe issues to a veterinary behavioralist.
