ADDITIONAL SERVICES FOR YOUR PET
Senior Care
Linda seen here with "Honey", a 14 year old Beagle
We provide special attention to aging pets focusing on preventative measures and the early detection and treatment of problems. Older patients commonly experience the same problems that older humans do – heart problems, diabetes, arthritis, chronic renal insufficiency, dental problems, hearing and vision loss, etc. Many of these conditions we can treat to extend and improve your older pet’s quality of life.
Pediatric Visits
These first visits are especially fun and very important in getting your new pet off to a good start. Our doctors perform thorough physical examinations, focusing on any internal or external parasite problems, congenital or developmental abnormalities.
Any problems detected will be thoroughly explained and treated if possible. Necessary vaccinations will be performed at this time. Our doctors and assistants will give you the latest information about diet, training, and preventative care.
Dr. Bruce takes time to discuss the patient examination findings and recommendations with the clients, but also interacts wit the kids too!
This father of five children himself, always takes time to involve the kids during the family pet's visit.
Microchip Location Technology
"Schroeder" receiving a MicroChip
Every day a beloved family pet is lost. Tragically, most never make it back home because their owners didn't identify them. The MicroChip is the professional way to identify your pet and is proven safe and effective. A tiny MicroChip that contains a personal identification number distinguishes your pet as a special member of your family. The MicroChip is so tiny that it fits through a hypodermic needle. Just like a vaccination, it is injected under the skin of your pet where it remains safely for life. This inexpensive procedure can be done anytime and protects virtually any pet in your household.
Oxygen Therapy
Oxygen therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that has been used by humans for many years, and has found quite a following among professional athletes. Veterinary oxygen therapy involves introducing the pet to high levels of oxygen under pressure in a special chamber. At normal atmospheric pressure, there is a limit to the amount of oxygen carried by red blood cells and only a tiny amount of oxygen is dissolved in the plasma. Increasing the amount of air breathed cannot significantly improve oxygen delivery to the body by way of hemoglobin, even if you breathe pure oxygen. However, with increased pressure, the oxygen level in blood plasma increases, with higher delivery to all body tissues. Under these conditions, oxygen is physically dissolved in the plasma, even in the veins. The dissolved oxygen is more readily utilized by the body than the oxygen carried by red blood cells. The oxygen is forced into the blood and body fluids, making its way to any damaged areas of the body than can’t be reached by normal blood circulation or areas where vessels have been hindered by injury or infection.
Pet Eye Care
Using a state-of-the-art device called a Tonopen, we are able to accurately measure your pet’s intraocular pressure with this quick, painless procedure.
We use this diagnostic test any time we have a patient with a “red eye” and for glaucoma screening tests.
Pet Dental Care
At both County Line Veterinary Hospital and Heritage Veterinary Hospital, we offer a full range of veterinary dental services such as teeth cleaning & polishing to put that healthy smile back on your pet's face. We can perform advanced dental care using dental X-rays to evaluate the need for extractions. We also provide preventative dental treatments and carry a wide range of dental care products.
Pain Management
At both County Line Veterinary Hospital and Heritage Veterinary Hospital we believe in aggressive pain management during post-surgical recovery and for those medical conditions that have the potential to diminish the quality of your pet's life. Compassion and commitment to your pet's well being is our primary concern.
Chronic Ear Problems
Pets with chronic ear infections can often have ruptured ear drums which is why medication alone will not clear up the infection. We are able to evaluate inner ear problems, obtain cultures, administer antibiotics behind the ear drum and perform deep ear cleanings under anesthesia.
To enable clients to visualize their pet's condition, we have a high magnification MedRx scope capable of performing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic treatment, as well as allowing owners to see just what's inside their pet’s ears. Our MedRx scope helps us monitor your pet's progress from one week to the next.
Ovulation Timing
Nothing is cuter than a newborn puppy! But sometimes, you may need help knowing when the best time to breed your pet will be.
At County Line Veterinary Hospital and Heritage Veterinary Hospital we offer ovulation timing for breeders to help our clients mate their dogs for optimum chances of conception.
